University of Miami selects Pinnacle Venue Services
to Manage Bankunited Center on its Coral Gables Campus
CORAL GABLES, Fla., June 16, 2016 – The University of Miami has selected Pinnacle Venue Services to be the new management company for its 8,000-seat BankUnited Center on the school’s campus in Coral Gables. The management agreement will become effective on July 1.
The 13-year-old, 200,000 sq. ft. multipurpose entertainment facility is the home of UM’s men’s and women’s Division I basketball teams. It also hosts concerts, family shows, sports events, award shows, graduations, conferences, lecture series and banquets. In addition to its 8,000 seats, it has 25 executive suites.
“We are extremely pleased to enter into this agreement with the University of Miami to allow us to enhance the outstanding reputation of the BankUnited Center and to strategically broaden the scope of entertainment offerings and customer services for the university’s students and staff, and for the residents of Coral Gables and Miami-Dade County,” said Doug Higgons, a Pinnacle principal.
“We have followed the growth and progress of the BankUnited Center since it first opened. It’s a wonderful building with a winning tradition. We anticipate a smooth, seamless transition from the former management company, Spectra, as we move forward to grow public utilization and appreciation of the BankUnited Center,” Higgons added.
